ASSISTANT COACH JOSH WAGENAAR

Josh Wagenaar enters his third season as an assistant coach for the Louisiana Tech soccer team.

A former standout goalkeeper in Canada, Wagenaar has been instrumental in coaching keepers Kylee Seto and Caitlin Updyke in net the past two years.

In her first full season as the starting goalkeeper, Seto earned All-Louisiana honorable mention after posting seven shutouts in 19 appearances, four of which came during conference play. She registered at least seven saves in four matches, including a career-high nine in a nil-nil draw at Southern Miss.

Seto took over for Updyke who was a second team All-Conference USA keeper in 2013 when she registered four shutouts against league foes with her best effort coming against C-USA champion Colorado College when she held the potent Tigers scoreless for 102 minutes while tallying a career-high 12 saves.

Prior to joining the Lady Techster coaching staff, Wagenaar served for three years as the men's and women's goalkeeper coach at Graceland University.

While with the Jackets, he coached the women to three consecutive Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) Championships and National Tournament appearances while also developing the strength and conditioning programs.

Under his tutelage, the Lady Jacket's goalkeeper Stefany Cardozo garnered multiple honors including two conference defensive MVP awards, two first-team All-HAAC awards and was recently named the 2012 HAAC Player of the Year.

As a player, he participated at all levels of soccer throughout his career. Wagenaar spent three seasons at Hartwick College where he was named Atlantic Soccer Conference Goalkeeper of the Week 11 different times.

After playing for the Canadian National team in the divisions of U16, U17, U18 and U19, Wagenaar was named to the U20 team where he represented his country in two FIFA World Youth Championships.

He then pursued a professional career overseas in Europe where he played for ADO Den Haag (The Netherlands), Lyngby BK (Denmark), Yeovil Town F.C. (England) and Falkirk F.C. (Scotland) during which time he was also a member of the U23 and full senior men's Canadian National teams.

Wagenaar earned a degree in Business Administration in May of 2012 from Graceland University and possesses an NSCAA National Coaching diploma and NSCAA Level III Goalkeeping diploma.
